STOFF Nagel
STOFF Nagel is a Danish design brand known for the re-launch of its iconic candleholder.
After the end of World War II, Germany was engulfed in poverty and despair. To earn money, the Nagel family collected empty shell casings at night and turned them into candleholders and vases.
Just 20 years after the end of the war, the 35-year-old Hans Nagel met architect and artist Werner Stoff in the Cologne design community. Their shared passion for good design and art sparked a creative collaboration that resulted in this masterpiece.
Global design was a force influencing all levels of society, and the candleholder became an “object d’art”, symbolizing a departure from the status quo and the alchemical creation of art after the war.
Today, STOFF Nagel candleholders represent a fusion of history, innovation, and timeless design, remaining a symbol of creativity and artistic expression that transcends generations.
